Trisrota Shakt Peeth Temple Jalpaiguri West Bengal
Bhramari Devi Temple also known as Trisrota Shakt Peeth Temple is dedicated to Goddess Sati in the form of Goddess Bhramari is one of the 51 Shaktipeeth Temple. Trisrota Shakt Peeth is located on the banks of Tista River in Shalbari village of Falakata in Jalpaiguri district in West Bengal. Here the idol of Maa Sati is called as Goddess Bhramari / Bumblebee and the lord Shiva is worshipped as Ishwar (form of Lord Shiva). Goddess Sati's left leg had fallen here and she resides in the form of Shakti Bhraamari. Then, at the place of fall of thumb of her left leg, this temple was constructed.
According the Purana, once Arun Asura conquered the Heavens (swarglok) and evacuated all Gods from their lavish abode. The repulsive Asura tried to conquer on the wives of the Gods too. Then the Goddess prayed to Goddess Parmeshwari who then transformed Herself into a large bee and along with a swarm of bees attacked the demon.
The bees torn up the chest of the Asura and killed him. From then onwards the divine mother is also known as 'Bhramari Devi or Bumblebee'- as a savior and protector of mankind.
